About

Hi, I'm Martin.

I'm an aerospace engineering student at UCF who likes being the person who puts the hardware together. I design enclosures and mounts, integrate boards and harnesses, and write down how it all fits so the next team can rebuild it.

I'm also the Knights Satellite Club's treasurer. The club has flown balloon payloads and tethered tests, but never a satellite in orbit. Between leading KLEO's integration and handling its money, launch talks and legal setup, I've been helping build the program that will get it there.

Roles at Knights Satellite Club

  1. Aug 2026 – present

    KLEO Integration Lead

Leading integration on a PROVES CubeSat engineering unit and writing the guide that records what we learn from it. Project →

  2. Jun 2026 – present

    KAOS-2 Mechanical Team Lead

Designed and built a screw-free 4U balloon enclosure; replacement now nearly done in CAD. Project →

  3. May 2026 – present

    Treasurer

Funding, launch-provider talks and incorporation: the groundwork for the club's first satellite in orbit. Details below ↓

  4. Aug 2025 – Mar 2026

    TSat-2A Mechanical Team Lead

Led a five-person team from enclosure design through a 450-ft tethered flight. Project →

Treasurer: building the program around the satellite

A club that flies balloons can run on a shared spreadsheet and a few emails. A club that launches a satellite needs reliable funding records, a launch provider, and a legal entity that can sign contracts. When I took over the books, the finances were spread across old spreadsheets with missing transactions and no clear balance for each funding source. Since then I've rebuilt that system, kept funding coming in, opened launch talks for KLEO, and helped set up the corporation those talks require.

~$4,500travel grants managed
$3,200active Florida Space Grant Consortium project grants
5engineering projects tracked in one budget, plus events and PR

A purchasing and budget system the whole club uses

I audited the old records and moved the budget from scattered Excel workbooks to Google Sheets with two AppSheet apps. Project leads submit bill-of-materials requests in one app. I record each purchase against the funding source that pays for it in the other. The final price and status flow back to the team's BOM, and balances update automatically.

Before rollout I tested the full request-to-purchase loop, including confirming that balances returned to their original values after a test purchase was removed. I also wrote a user guide and handover notes so the next treasurer can run it without me.

  3. 3Purchase recorded against a funding source
  4. 4Price and status return to the team BOM; balances update

Finding KLEO a ride to orbit

Launch slots for a single university CubeSat are scarce and expensive, and most rideshare providers aren't set up to deal with a student club. After SmallSat 2026 I started reaching out to launch providers directly. I'm now in active talks with four of them.

That means working through each provider's integration requirements, schedule and cost, and turning their answers into what the KLEO team needs to have ready. Those talks also exposed a problem: as a student organization, the club couldn't sign the NDAs and contracts involved. That's what led us to incorporate.

Incorporation

I helped incorporate Knights Satellite Club Inc., a Florida not-for-profit that lets the club sign the external agreements KLEO needs. I prepared and filed documents, coordinated the founding directors, obtained the EIN and completed the tax forms. I serve as a founding director and the corporation's Treasurer, and I'm authorized to handle its routine NDAs.

Industry partners

I secured an Onshape Enterprise account for the club's CAD work, plus FreeFlyer licenses, training support and a guest speaker. I'm also in talks with an electronics company about a partnership and facility tours, and I represented KSC at SmallSat 2026 in Salt Lake City.
